2019 MTN Bears of Care Community Event

Hello, my name is Yvette Anderson and I am the proud founder of the nonprofit MTN Organization also known as Meet the Need. Yesterday was our 5th Annual Bears of Care Nursing Home Project. We visited 3 Nursing homes to bring Valentine Cards, blankets, teddy bears and flags to seniors and veterans.

In times where the country seems divided, MTN is Blessed to have so many come together to make a difference and spread love. It’s so amazing to see children from various parts of NJ and PA interact with each other as if they’ve known each other their whole life. These kids bonded and weren’t afraid to make new friends.

This was a true Community effort throughout NJ. Students from Newark, Monroe, Howell, Old Bridge, Neptune and Manalapan as well as Girl Scout Troops joined our efforts to make homemade Valentine Cards. Project Linus donated homemade lap blankets, Long Branch High School donated cookie treats and MTN supplied teddy bears to distribute.

Seniors and veterans were so excited to see the children come for a visit. The rooms were filled with smiles and laughter as we gave blankets, cards, treats and bears to wish them a Happy Valentines Day! Our student Volunteers took the day off from their phones to spend time playing bingo, reading cards and showering residents and patients with love and attention.

So often seniors and veterans are forgotten but not by MTN. We are dedicated to putting smiles on faces, hope in hearts and restoring faith. Our projects help bring our youth volunteers together for a day of fun, while learning the importance of giving back, compassion and being encouraged to communicate face to face. We pride ourselves in giving families time to spend together making a difference. Some families drove almost 2 hours from PA for their children to volunteer with MTN.

I am including a few photos and videos from our day. Please visit our website andersonsmeettheneed.org to see all the wonderful things we are doing to enrich the lives of others.
